Fruit Belt Trail Open House 2-10-22
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Oshtemo Charter Township will conduct a public meeting
on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in the form of an Open House from 4:00-6:00p.m. at the
Oshtemo Charter Township Community Center, located at 6407 Parkview Avenue, within the
Township, as required under the provisions of the Michigan Open Meetings Act.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the purpose of this Open House is to provide
information on, and gather public comment regarding, grant applications to the Michigan Natural
Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF) to develop a 10’ wide trail, and related trail amenities, on the
Township’s Fruit Belt Trail property.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Fruit Belt Trial property extends from the
northeast corner of Flesher Field, 3664 S. 9th Street, to the Township’s south border approx. 700’
east of 5th Street, within the “RR” Rural Residence District (Parcel Numbers 3905-35-185-030,
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the public comment gathered at the February
10, 2022 Open House will be presented to the Township Board, along with an additional public
comment period, for the Township Board’s consideration of authorizing the development grant
applications to the MNRTF for Fruit Belt Trail construction.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Township Board will consider authorizing
the MNRTF grant applications for Fruit Belt Trail construction at an in-person public meeting at
Oshtemo Charter Township Hall, located at 7275 West Main Street, within the Township at a
February or March of 2022 meeting, and that such consideration will be noted on the Board’s
meeting agenda in advance of said meeting; agendas are available on the Township website:
You are invited to attend these public meetings. If you are unable to attend, written
comments may be submitted in lieu of a personal appearance by writing to: Parks Director, 7275
W. Main Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, up to the date of the to-be-determined Township Board
meeting. In addition, all materials relating to the MNRTF grant application may be examined at
Oshtemo Township Hall during normal business hours.
Oshtemo Charter Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services,
such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at
this hearing, to individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids
should contact the Township by phone, or in writing, at least seven (7) days prior notice to the
scheduled hearing date.
